Happy New Year!

December 31st, 2008 No comments

It’s not quite midnight yet but I’m gonna post this now. Vicki, Brittany, and I are in North Carolina right now visiting Vicki’s family. We’re sitting in front of the remnants of a fireplace fire waiting for the clock to strike twelve. So I wanted to take a minute to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

And if my mom reads this before I get a chance to call her (sometime tomorrow probably), I would call right now but this house is a giant dead zone and it’s too cold to go outside to use the phone. :)

Rock Band 2 vs. Guitar Hero: World Tour

December 23rd, 2008 No comments

So I’ve been meaning to do a post like this ever since Guitar Hero: World Tour first came out.  I, of course, have both of these games and play them all the time (well, when I’m not playing World of Warcraft, of course).  I’ve loved Rock Band since before I even bought an Xbox 360, and I became addicted to Guitar Hero 3 when we first got our Wii, so when I heard that Activision was doing GH:WT, I was instantly excited.  I love playing drums on Rock Band, so I couldn’t wait to try it out on GH:WT.

Of course, the two games, while similar, have many differences.  Some are good; some are not so good.  Not only are there differences between the two games but also between each game and their own predecessors.  There are things that I personally think are improvements in both games and also some features in each game that make them each more fun.  So let’s dive in!  But one quick thing to note.  I didn’t get any new hardware with these new games.  Basically I use the Les Paul wireless guitar controller and the RB1 drum set, so I’m not able to talk much about the new guitar and drum controllers for each game.

Happy Anniversary to Vicki and I!

December 22nd, 2008 No comments

4 years ago today, Vicki and I were in Hawai’i exchanging wedding vows.  It really doesn’t feel like it’s been that long.  My mom likes to remind me of how long it’s been, since that is also the last time we were in Hawai’i.

iFart??

December 22nd, 2008 No comments

So I’m bored at work, as usual, and decided to check out the App Store on my iPhone.  I just spent $12.99 of a $15 iTunes card I had to buy the BeeJiveIM app (which rocks btw).  Anyway, I click on the Top 25 link and notice that right now, the #1 paid app on the App Store is something called iFart Mobile!

Seriously, I’m curious how they come up with the rankings for these apps.  Number 2 on the list is EA’s SimCity for iPhone, which was number 1 the last time I checked.  iFart Mobile is only $0.99, but it still seems strange that this would rank so high amongst paid apps.  I suppose if they base the rankings on number of downloads, I could see a bunch of people downloading this…

Profession Levelling FTL

December 18th, 2008 No comments

I hate levelling professions.  Especially when you have to level it from 1-450.   I decided that I’d do mining and blacksmithing on my death knight.   Out of all my characters, I don’t have a high level blacksmith yet, and levelling blacksmithing is a lot easier and cheaper if you are a miner.  Thing is, levelling mining sucked bad.  Having to run around lowbie areas searching for nodes took so long and was so boring. Annual Holiday Gift Exchange

December 18th, 2008 No comments

So we had our annual gift exchange today at work.  Basically, everyone picks a number.  Starting from 1, people can either pick a gift from the table or steal a gift from someone that already picked one.  The person with number 1 is allowed at the end to steal a gift from someone if they so choose.  As far as stealing gifts, you are allowed to steal a gift from anyone that already has one, but each gift can not be stolen more than 3 times.  Once it’s been stolen for the third time, it can no longer be stolen.

Welcome to the new WERUreo.com!

December 18th, 2008 No comments

OK, so if you’re seeing this now, then the domain name has propagated to your part of the Internet and the transfer has been completed!  This will be the new home for my new and improved blog.  As promised, the old blog has been archived and should be available at http://archive.werureo.com/ if everything goes as planned.  I won’t even know if that works until I can view this new blog on the Internet.

So, like I said, I will begin to make an honest effort to keep this blog updated, and the focus will hopefully be a little more condensed.  Stay tuned for new categories and new posts as I get around to them!
